Official Opening of the University of Kara’s Academic and Administrative Facilities

On April 24, 2026, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Council of the
Togolese Republic, presided over the official opening of the newly completed academic and
administrative facilities of the University of Kara, located in Pya. Three years to the day after the
foundation stone was laid, this milestone marks the delivery of a project that brings to life the
President’s vision of a modern and accessible higher education system for all Togolese youth.

The project was developed under a Public-Private Partnership signed in 2022 between the Togolese
State and Envol Partnerships Togo, covering the financing, construction, equipment and the facility
management of the campus. Envol Immobilier mobilized the full financing of the project, made possible
with the support of Coris Bank International, a strategic financial partner of the Group operating across
fourteen African countries.
“Coris Bank International supports us on several projects across multiple countries. It is an African bank
financing African projects. This is exactly the model Africa needs.”
Madani Maki Tall, Chairman of the Board, Envol Immobilier

The first phase represents 18,600 square meters of built space, bringing together key academic and
administrative components of the university, including faculties dedicated to health sciences, agricultural
professions, engineering and innovation, as well as the university presidency and a modern dining
facility. From this initial phase, the campus is able to accommodate 6,000 students. Between 1,600 and
1,800 people were mobilized during construction, and approximately 100 permanent jobs will be
generated during the operational phase.

This campus marks the first stage of a broader development. By 2040, the University of Kara is expected
to expand to 250,000 square meters and host up to 30,000 students, with nine faculties, a university
teaching hospital, a central library and student residences.

The project is designed to support the long-term development of the region and strengthen Kara’s position as a major academic center. “The State placed its trust in us. We delivered. This campus is far more than an academic facility — it
is a long-term investment in youth and in the economic development of the entire Kara region.”
